Pentagon Update

The Sept. 11 crash of the terrorist-piloted, fuel-laden jet caused nearly 2 million sq ft of damage to portions of Wedge 1 and Wedge 2 at the Pentagon. Despite the devastation, rebuilding efforts began almost immediately. In June 2002, military officials...

Attention Contractors: Show Your Patriotism by Displaying an American Flag
Americans are flying flags outside their homes and businesses to show support for the United States in our time of mourning. As a result, flags are in short supply nationwide. Electrical contractors can show their patriotism by printing out this flag from the Internet and posting it in the front window of their business.

CEE News posted the question, “How do you think the World Trade Center should be rebuilt and why?” on its Web site and the Electrical Contractor Network discussion board. Here are some electrical professionals’ views on the rebuilding of the WTC.

“I think the World Trade Center should be red, white and blue. They would have to do it in subtle tones to make it pleasing, but what better tribute than the American colors? How many buildings have a color like that—10 to 15 worldwide? I feel that whatever we do, it should be with the American spirit. Americans put blood, sweat and tears into the construction. I can’t wait to see what it will become...

“Exactly as it was before so we don’t forget what happened. Only this time arrange the towers to point toward the east. Realistically though, it would be difficult to get tenants in another high-rise. To leave nothing but a memorial on the site would only show Al Qaeda how successful they were. Something should be built that will be the next financial center of the world.”

“The site should be preserved or rebuilt in accordance with the wishes of the citizens of New York City. They are the ones who suffered the greatest loss and they are the only ones who have a say in the matter.”

“I think it should be rebuilt exactly the same or larger. I don’t think you’ll have any problem getting people back in. Sure you’ll have a few individuals getting hysterical about it, but most will see it as sign of American strength.”

"I think they should have the World Trade Center be red, white and blue. They would have to do it in subtle tones to make it pleasing, but what better of a tribute than the American colors? In addition, how many buildings have a color like that--10 to 15 worldwide? I feel that whatever we do, it should be with the American spirit and American dreams built blood, sweat and tears into the construction. I can't wait to see what it will become...
